Probably at the Ball Park
If you haven’t figured it out yet, you’re not actually reading our blog posts. Mark is long gone on vacation, and will be for a while yet. He’s on the East Coast, on a MLB baseball tour. I’m not exactly sure what he’s doing and where, but I know he’s been to several games at different ballparks, and has visited the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. An extended 50th Birthday party with Danielle. I hope they’re both having a great time.
So I’m running the blog, and trying to keep everyone as informed and entertained as Mark does. On Saturdays he often rolls a music video or some other non-fishing related thing. I was thinking something related to baseball.
At first I was thinking a music video like “Centerfield” by Fogerty or “Glory Days” by the Boss. But I never really liked “Centerfield”, and baseball begins and ends in the first verse of “Glory Days”.
Then I thought about a movie trailer. But which baseball movie character reminds me most of Mark? Hollywood loves baseball, so there’s lots to choose from. Robert Redford, Charlie Sheen and Tom Beringer, Kevin Costner, John Cusack, Kevin Costner, John Goodman, Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, Tim Robbins and Kevin Costner.
But there’s really only one baseball movie Character Mark could play, and that of course is Morris Buttermaker (Walter Matthau), the cagey manager of the Chico’s Bail Bonds team in “The Bad News Bears”. So for your Saturday morning entertainment, here’s the theatrical trailer for the greatest baseball movie ever made![/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/sF6De-XP7x4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Hell ya…well played sir ….well played.
Pretty appropriate post today with the Little League World Series ongoing. In my coaching days in the late 80’s I took our Dalton Pa little league team to see the championship game in Williamsport where the team from Japan stomped us 18 to 0 and that was before the 10 run rule was adopted.
John , you are doing a great job w the blogs !
Concerned you didn’t include Tom Hanks in that line up. There is no crying in baseball!

I thought about that after I posted and almost went in to edit it. Good call.
All I “know” of Mark is thru the Videos & a quick meet at the shop last year, but, I don’t think he could ‘pull off” the comedic genius of Walter. Mark “looks” too much like Tom (sort of), but I have no idea what Mark’s personality is really all about. Can’t wait to find out though, come Oct.). Won’t be any crying at Spey Clinic either, I hope, ha! Only way Cooperstown could be considered “East Coast” is 100 yrs from now when the Oceans have done their Rising, ugh! By then my grave site will of become an “at Sea Navy burial” – maybe I should have the Navy bury me “at Sea” before? – after all I am Retired Navy. Does Annapolis (Navy) have a Baseball team?
