Daytime temperatures will be higher than normal this weekend with the best bite int he morning. Scumliner stated in his last fishing report that most anything fished in the mornings turns up roses. He’s right. While you can find success in the afternoon, why would you. Take a break, and if you must, go back out. Or just stay in and read. OR go to Joe’s. Izaak’s a good idea too. Missouri River Inn? A good choice.

Or to Headhunters Saturday BBQ’s Saturday August 17th @ 3pm. All of the above strike you as a good idea? Yah, a good one.

Back to the morning bite. Saturday and Sundays are rec floater paradise days near the end of the summer. The hotter it is,the busier it is with random floaters. Getting out early and enjoying the morning session becomes even a better idea now. No? Headhunter open at 6am with piping hot free Dunkin Do-nuts coffee. Flies, shuttles and the like.

Short and long leash nymphs are getting it done at the dam. Also at the dam, dry fly action with billions of Trico’s present daily. Brazillions in fact. Small PT’s ad Trico imitations with caddis pupa too. Add or subtract splits for added success. Figure out how to get to them, the troutskis, and play on!

The lower reach is hit and miss but many are playing the hopper game or bushy dry card down low. The canyon is vacant if you like solace. A good time to run downstream to stay away from the traffic. But there really is none to speak of anywhere. Not really.

Choose your reach and enjoy. Not much pressure, so no excuses…

Weather for the weekend is hot, but not too hot. Maybe some common afternoon thunderstorms with light and variable winds. Pretty nice for your August fishing excursion.

Headhunters Fly Shop will be closed Monday August 19th for an Employee Party. Sorry for any inconvenience.
