Missouri River Fishing Report 8.2.18
Trico mornings rule most of the day for dry fly anglers. Followed by PMD spinner falls, and finally skittering caddis. You may want to tie on a blind fishing pattern for the late afternoon. Or early afternoon. Or some even get after it in the early am with the ant or hopper. Honest!
Nymphers fishing short for the morning session as well. Get into those fish before they are spooked off of those 18″-36″ center river flats and structure points.
Or why not run a dry dropper out there. An Adams and a small diminutive black super mayfly.
Ever thought of sinking a dry fly? Something you should entertain. Fish eat lots of sunken bait. Spinners sink and trout eat them. How about a sunken Buzzball bobbing around in an eddy.
Weeds? Not too bad.
Flows? Perfect for all users. The subsurface structure has changed wee bit in some runs. Gravel was certainly moved around. Fun to see the changes. Entertaining for sure. Below 5K cfs. Good to go.
Today’s Hot Tip? Try a new stretch. How about the canyon reach? A good idea for blind fishing and enjoying the mountain environment.
