Guiding 4 the Future

A great cause. Shane Wilson and I attended this past year. Shane was the outstanding student of the course, scoring a perfect score on the final exam. And winning a sweet Sage Ignitor courtesy of Sage Fly Rods.

We have a couple of our guides headed to the course for 2020.

Guiding for the Future is a course developed by the Fishing Outfitter Association of Montana (FOAM). 40 hours of online classwork followed by a 3 day practicum in Pardise Valley at B-Bar Ranch tucked up Tom Miner Basin. Beautiful. Educational. Inspirational.

Good times whilst learning with your peers.

Always putting our best foot forward. Or cast.

Check out the video, and enjoy your Saturday.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQUPPHGM_hg&feature=youtu.be”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

  1. Thanks for sharing this video Mark. Looks like it was a great seminar. I am glad the Keepemwet folks were there.

  2. Perhaps one day it will become Standard Procedure for obtaining a Pro Guide License, and not just in Montana? I’m sure Montana has some Great Fresh Water Fisheries Programs – would be great if their Professors could also volunteer some time in this “about time” effort. As a former Student of a Great Fisheries Program (Utah State ’73-’76) I learned many things I wasn’t vaguely aware of – ignoramus I was about economical, ecological & hydrological matters of flowing & still-waters. How Land use and even Weathers impact on the Land that surrounds these watery gems.
Hmmm . . . perhaps a 10 hour mandatory course for Fishing Licenses – say once every 5 years, with updates to materials.
Hey don’t shoot me . . . I’m just the piano player, tip jars > over there !
