[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]A must for any hard core Missouri River angler.
Tied originally for this fine river emulating dead midge shucks.
In conversations with Gary LaFontaine on the Trout Shop Cafe porch way back in the day Gary stated that even though the original calls for Coachman Brown he preferred to tie it with Orange Dyed Grizzly. He said he thought the fish keyed in on it sooner than the original edition.
He also said that in his Proven Patterns book he claimed it was created for the eddy below Mountain Palace, but actually was tied for the dead fly feeding fish at Jackson Rock.
Tie this one up for your upcoming trip to the Mo. Or get on board with the JAV Buzzball Tying Kit below or at the Mother Ship in Craig.
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Along with the rise in air temperatures come an increase in gnarly and violent thunderstorms. We’ve had a few, but are heading into the peak of the season.
Check out this incredible short from Nicolaus Wegner from just over the border in South Dakota. I’ve watched a few of Wegner’s time lapse films over the last year. Awesome.
Hope you don’t get to see this live while on the river this weekend…[/vc_column_text][us_separator show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/130465665″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Here is a sweet video that came through the feeds the other day. Incredible footage and fishing from those inspired filmmakers in Scandinavia (I think?).
These guys from Northern Europe always seem to combine great footage with some emotional narrative. They really love fly fishing. We get quite a few of these guys through the shop, and they tell us one reason they get so excited is that the season is very short in the far North. So short that they apparently go out and fish in the icebergs during the winter.
If you’re an Aurora Borealis nerd – like me – this video has you covered. Some great time lapse with people in it. Not sure how, but my guess is the camera operator told his buddy to go “sit on that rock with your rod and DON’T MOVE!” for an hour or so… cool stuff. Literally.[/vc_column_text][us_image image=”12169″ size=”full” link=””][vc_column_text]Theres also some wicked cool shades in this flick. Smith! Are you watching!
So check out this beautifully done video. If you’re roasting in the Montana heat this week, it’ll cool you off. At 8 minutes you have time for a beer or two while you watch.[/vc_column_text][us_separator show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/129934099″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The latest Issue of Catch Magazine is out. Some great articles and incredible photos in this one. Really cool photo spread on Africa, and some great shots from the Salmonfly Hatch on the Henry’s Fork. Todd Moen shows you some great aerial imagery as well.
We think Catch is great, and well worth the $12 bucks for the year long subscription. Thats 1 beer in Key West…[/vc_column_text][us_btn align=”center” target=”_self” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fcatchmagazine.net” style=”6″ label=”GET CATCH MAGAZINE!” custom_width=”200px” css=”%7B%22default%22%3A%7B%22font-size%22%3A%2218px%22%7D%7D”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When Mike McCune and Whitney Gould were here in April on their annual Montana spey fishing tour, I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days fishing with Mike and talking about the new “Trout Spey” gear he has been working on with Sage and Rio. Yes, little rods and little lines. But with lots of power. Watch first, then ask questions.[/vc_column_text][us_separator show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/129327269″][us_separator show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_column_text]Having never fished with Mike or Whitney, I quickly learned that fishing for trout isn’t something they do to earn a few bucks teaching spey classes outside the PNW. They really enjoy it, and have been tinkering with ultra-lightweight spey rods for the last 5 years.
Mike had the final versions of some new 11′ 2 & 3 (200-250r) weight spey rods he has been working on with Sage for the last few years. For lines he was throwing final prototypes of the new RIO “Trout Skagit?” lines. Skagit heads 11 feet in length. Yes, 11 feet.
While I’ve been known to badmouth “ultra-light” spey rigs in the past (you don’t need them for the Missouri!), I must admit that Mike/Sage/Rio have nailed it with these. Distance is excellent. Wind performance nearly equal a 6 weight rod. The ability to throw larger flies – which Mike refers to as “payload” – is very, very good. Way past the size of flies that I personally use for trout fishing. And most Steelhead fishing.
Add to that extremely light in the hand and effortless to cast. In fact too much effort will be self-destructive.
The 11′ RIO Skagit head is shorter than you might think is possible. But with a “hands down” casual stroke it launches. You can use 10′ MOW tips on it, or cut your own a bit shorter. One huge advantage of these short tips is that you can strip line in a traditional streamer fishing style without running into junction knots and thick heads.
We will save the rest for the official release this summer.
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Today on the Headhunters Blog we have the Bloom’s Tungsten Dart.
A great pattern for the Missouri River May, June, July, August…you get the point.
Tie this on and get after it. We got them in stock for a cup full of flies in many sizes and we also have the Tung Dart Just Add Vise Kit. Order one up on the online store or stop in and take a few home with you.
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I recently spent a few days down in the Ruby Valley fishing with an old friend. Mike Stack and I used to guide together down in the “5 Rivers” area (Madison, Jefferson, Ruby, Beaverhead, Big Hole), and it is truly one of the best areas to live and fish in the West. Tons of big famous rivers with countless miles of spring creeks, ponds, irrigations ditches and mountain streams in between. All of them full of trout.
Mike is a great fisherman and guide. One of those guys who lives it. Definitely not a “lifestyler”. He took me to a private stretch of the Beaverhead River for the day and we put together this edit. Enjoy, and if you’re interested in fishing that area, give Mike a shout.[/vc_column_text][us_separator show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/128331727″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

We love to dip over the to the other side and toss some bigger dry flies.
This summer the run-off appears to be happening much quicker than the previous several years so we will be heading west sooner than we generally do.

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Many carry the Little Green Machine in their box. Many fly shops carry this fly in their bins. We carry it in several sizes and this convenient fly tying kit as well.
Headhunters fly tying guru Ninch and media producer John put this together this last winter for all of you who want to tie this fly. It is so damn popular that we have brought you the tying kit, all the materials for 25+ flies, and a tying video with none of the regular fruit laden music, nonsensical pictures and un-witty fly tying banter that many fly tying videos unfortunately include.
And it is short. No waiting for the tyer to get to step 2. The entire length of the LGM vid is 1:23 seconds.
Just the good stuff in this Just Add Vise Kit! The Little Green Machine falls into our top 10 sellers since we brought this fly in several years ago. Enjoy this kit and many more like it only available at Headhunters Fly Shop of Craig MT.
This premiered at the Down the Hatch FilmFest in Missoula Saturday night. Those who attended said it went off pretty well. You make the call. Screenplay by Ninch. Filmed by Scumliner Media. Directed by Ninch and John. Edited & Produced by Scumliner Media. Underwritten by Orvis and Headhunters Fly Shop.
A Headhunters Fly Shop Humor Department project.
Everything you see is true. None of this shit was fabricated. Reality fly fishing film? This is it. Come visit the fly shop where the lines between reality and fantasy are blurred.

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]This maybe the most popular JAV Tying Kit we have?
You’d have to ask Ninch. He’ll know.
It is one of the most talked about streamers on the Mo, and rivers, streams, lakes, and of course bass ponds.
A few in the past week have asked us to post a little something about this fly. Again.
Here it is. The answer. The Kreelex. Love it. Live it. Fish it.
Buy this baby at Headhunters and get it started. Tie your own?! Why not.
The beauty of Headhunters Kreelex JAV Kit is that you can add another 10 flavors of Krenik Product to your grab bag here at the store.

Stop in the shop or we will pop a couple packages in the mail for you. They are not on the Headhunters Fly Shop web store as of yet, but I’m sure they will make a appearance this spring as well.
HH Fly Guru Ninch and John are tying, filming, and putting together a number of new JAV fly patterns today in a location unknown. You will see them soon on our shelves here at the store. I’m sure a few of them may find their way onto this very fishy Missouri River blog site too.
Happy tying today as we have settled inside staring at computer screens today in Craig. 4″-8″ of snow on the ground here on the Mo’ with the outside temperatures falling below 10F this morning. Winter wonderland. Truly.

Talk to any ol’ timer and he can tell you 12 stories about either floating any sort of rodent from a shingle…and a few stories about ants.
That’s truth there above. So today a Just Add Vise video from the aforementioned JAV fly kit only available at Headhunters Fly Shop.
Get your ants ready for the year ahead by tying this killer on the Mo’.
While we have many of our most popular flies online now, you will have to come in the store for the Just Add Vise kits. We have a small fly tying section as well with just enough stuff to get you through a tight spot if you need to whip up a few flies on your Missouri River fishing journey!
This pattern developed by John Arnold of Headhunters Fly Shop.
John also shot the video, tied on the video, and authored the JAV tune!
When do we use this fly on the Mo’? Well, when there are beetles around, Longhorns!
Many love to blind fish ants and beetles and terrestrials most of the summer and this Longhorn Beetle pattern fits the bill.
Tie on up today! See us at Headhunters Fly Shop in Craig MT tonight for our twice monthly tying nights. 6pm-8pm with a beer at the bar afterwords seems to be the program.

Wiki says that hope is an optimistic attitude of mind based on an expectation of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. As a verb, to cherish a desire with anticipation.Hope gets people through struggles and affords optimism when things look bleak.
Common knowledge is that good fishermen must have hope. We must be optimistic, or else why go?
Common knowledge also pairs good fishing and luck as natural partners. As a guide, I am hopeful before a day of fishing and I am a huge fan of good luck, but there are times (lots of them), where hope and luck are a crutch that need to be destroyed.
A few years back, I was on the bow of a skiff scanning the four feet of clear water over green turtle grass and sea fans, looking for shadows. I heard “10 o’clock. 120 feet. See the mud? That’s our boy.”
My body tensed and I checked my coiled fly line for the tenth time in the last five minutes. The permit tailed again, spraying water with his forked black tail. I spoke to myself as I often do, in tense times like this “Ok, Ben, breathe, relax, nice easy shot. You got this.”
“80 feet now, wait for him. Ok cast!” the man on the platform said.
I false cast three times and dropped the fly six feet short of the fish and four feet to the right. I let the fly fall then got tight to it and stripped three feet of line. I let if fall. I stripped again.
“He doesn’t see it. Cast again. Show it to him.”
I picked up fifty feet of line, and shot at him again. Five feet short of the fishes nose and six feet left. I crouched, making myself small on the bow as I let it fall. Before the fly hit the bottom, I gave a long…slow strip. The fish was calm, feeding and milling, not feeling us at all. I let the fly fall and stripped again. The fish didn’t react. I let it fall, and then got tight again.
“HE DOESNT SEE IT. TRY AGAIN!”
I lifted the fly line off the water, and the fish exploded. From calm and cool to terrified in a second. She-Gone! My head dropped, as I stripped my fly line back in.
Very quiet boat for a very long moment.
“WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT? YOU ARE HOPING AND PRAYING.
STOP HOPING. START KNOWING.
DON’T HOPE HE SEES YOUR FLY.
MAKE, HIM, SEE, IT!”
Stop hoping. Hmmm? That’s a novel idea. I was short and off the fishes shoulder each cast, but once in the water I was moving the fly like I was in the game. I was hoping and praying that the fish would do what he most likely wouldn’t. See my fly from ten feet, swim over and eat it.
I see, fish with, and guide hopeful anglers who play out this scenario in my boat all the time.
And it’s perfectly natural. It’s human to hope.
Mid-July, fishing to a big brown trout who seems glued to his weed mat, not moving an inch for our caddis. Or for our spinner, buzzball, ant or cricket. He won’t move for anything!
In May, that same fish will move two feet for our March Brown Cripple, but this isn’t May. He’s not the same fish. This is July. Now, after four fly changes and forty casts, we’re beginning to wonder if this fish is ours to catch? We make another cast, ten inches from the weed mat again. The fly lands three feet upstream of the fish but well outside of him. And, like a hopeful angler, we feed line through the space of water that is not anywhere near that brown trout lane.
A perfect dead drift. Why didn’t he eat?
Because, we still have, possess, and are using hope as a fishing tool. We are hoping that Mr. Brown takes a notion to something he does not even see! And I must note for the first time since we’ve been watching and casting at this fish has he made a move outside of his 1 inch feeding lane. We are hoping he will leave his safe little happy spot, swim over, and eat our fly?!&%$*
Of course it happens, because weird shit happens all the time when fishing. But, but not often enough for us to use hope as a certified dry fly method! A better approach is to abandon hope. Stop hoping that he does something he doesn’t want to. Stop hoping for the anomaly, for luck.
Abandon Hope, and show the fly to the fish.
Make him see it. I won’t speak for other guides, but personally, I’d rather see a fish spook from the fly landing too close on the first shot than to short a fish for forty five minutes and never show him the fly.
Abandon Hope. That is the moral of the story? Hahaha, well maybe just in a very small set of circumstances.
Keep on hoping for great hatches, good flows, cloud cover and no wind.
When your fly is on the water…don’t hope it,know it.
Ed Note: Thanks Ben Hardy for the killer article this Tuesday mid winter. Ben is busy this winter in Cascade MT remod-ing the house, waiting for an an addition of another kind, and rooting for his Patriots.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Here’s the latest edit, featuring the crew that stays around Craig for the winter, fishing the Missouri River with two-handed or “spey” gear. The class at our last Spey Clinic got to see the world premier. Aren’t you jealous?
[/vc_column_text][us_separator text=”MONTANA SPEY VIDEO” show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/113932956″][us_separator show_line=”1″ line_width=”default”][vc_column_text]The last time I filmed a lot of early winter two-handed fishing was when Sara and I shot “Down & Across“, 3 years ago I think? Seems like ages. It’s one of my most viewed videos at 27K views. It seems that you like watching some spey casting and fishing on the Missouri River.
We’ve definitely got a bigger crew doing it now, both in the shop and on the river in general. Many of the rigs I see around Craig in the winter months are not towing a boat, but do have a magnetic rod holder on the roof holding a variety of switch and spey rods. We like to see that. Anglers like Terry Armstrong from Great Falls are out there several days a week.
This video features everyones favorite “Spey Witch” Sara Roholt, along with Ben McNinch, guides Mark Raisler and Beth Hood, and new player Erich Bittman (TroutNV), who makes all of that cool laser engraved stuff at the shop. Pretty diverse group of two-handed anglers. Ben and Sara are Missouri River gurus, and do a bit of Steelhead fishing in the Columbia Basin. Mark is kind of a “trout-only” angler who loves to cast. Beth fishes here in the winter and you can typically find her on the Morice and Bulkley Rivers in the fall. Erich grew up in the Puget Sound and leans towards the Skagit side of things. He fishes all over the place, but moved to Craig full time a few years ago, and you will see him out swinging on the Mo (summer and winter). If you attend any of the Spey Claves in the PNW you will see him there as well.
Also a shout out to Simon Perkins and Orvis, who is a huge supporter of small fly fishing video production, including my own. Check out tons of fly fishing videos on THE TUG…
At any rate, the “Swing Season” has been great thus far, and we have a lot of nice weather in the forecast. Hopefully it will hold through the holidays so you can get out for a few days and enjoy the fishing. Int he meantime, enjoy some virtual fishing through Switch it Up – VIMEO LINK.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Patagonia’s documentary film DamNation is now available for streaming on Netflix. I first saw this film last summer and I have to say it is very well done and a must see for anglers. I think the film hits home with me because dams are a big part of our history here in Montana. Not just the big, hydro-electric, job-making dams that we commonly about, but also the harmful, fish-killing dams, whose sole purpose is to fund other polluting activities that are detrimental to wild species.
In 2008, the Milltown Dam on the Clark Fork River, near Missoula, was removed, making Montana home to the largest Superfund Site in the United States. The dam was originally created in the early 1900’s to produce hydroelectricity to fuel a nearby sawmill in Bonner, which cut timber for mine shafts being built in Butte, Montana. Ironically, the dam would eventually hold millions of cubic yards of toxic sediment that it helped produce. Approximately 300,000 tons of toxic sediment was removed from behind the dam between 2008 and 2012.
When the project was finished in 2013, the public was finally allowed to float down a section of the Clark Fork that had been flooded for over a hundred years. I was fortunate enough to be on one of the first rafts to (legally) float down the newly reopened section of river. The fishing was amazing. Dries, nymphs, streamers, they ate everything. Fisheries experts agree that the fishing on the Clark Fork will only improve with time, and has the potential to become a world class trout fishery. Talk to anyone who fishes the upper Clark Fork and they will tell you how much better it is today than just a few years ago.
My dad was born in Missoula, Montana, and lived there until he was about eight years old when he and his family moved upstream to Butte. He spoke at the ceremony the day the river was opened to the public, and in his speech he recalled what the Clark Fork was like when he was a kid. “I remember asking my dad why the river was orange,” he said. The reason was that during the spring runoff in high water years, massive amounts of the rust-colored sediment that had been building up behind the dam for years would finally overflow and dump into the river, causing the river to run a solid orange color and killing thousands of trout in the process. Getting rid of the Milltown Dam, and thus protecting a fishery that is home to Native Bull Trout and Westslope Cutthroat, as well as Browns and Rainbows, was a milestone in Montana’s state history. It represented the mistakes of our ancestors, who, at the expense of future generations, recklessly polluted the streams that we today cherish and put at risk native populations of wild trout, on their way to creating “the Richest Hill on Earth”.
The film DamNation talks about a different kind of dam; rather than holding toxic mine tailings from entering the river below, this dam is holding back wild fish from reaching their spawning grounds. It argues that these dams are the single biggest detriment to the survival of wild steelhead and salmon in the Pacific Northwest. It touches on the debate of the environment and fish vs. energy and jobs, as well as the wild vs. hatchery fish debate (Montana, by the way, was the first state in the lower 48 to stop stocking its rivers and streams with hatchery trout). These can be heated subjects, for sure, but I think the film makes a very persuasive fish-first argument.
One point that I would like to make very clear is that this film does not support the removal all dams. David Montgomery, Professor at the University of Washington, offers his insight in the film:
“Like all constructed things, dams have a finite lifetime. It’s not time to pull out every dam in the country. That would be economically foolish. But it would be just as foolish not to rethink every dam in the country and try and decide which are the ones that actually still make sense in the 21st century, and which are those that we can get more value, both economically, culturally, aesthetically, morally, and ecologically out of a river system by sending it partway back to a state that it was in naturally.”
Amazing film, the best documentary I’ve seen in at least a year. Grab a pizza and a six-pack this weekend and checkout DamNation, you won’t be disappointed!

Enjoy on this quite nice Wednesday here in the canyon. Tying Night in America, in Craig start after the new year. Wednesdays of course.
Pretty good stuff from our friends over at Strike Foundry. The new video was shot in October while the Strike Foundry gang led by Marko Baxter came out and shot some video for Strike Foundry Indicators.
Fun group of fellows and they were not afraid of a good time.
Super cool drone footage too.
Thanks again Marko for including us in your Missouri River video!

The Missouri River is the winter playground that many of you may recognize.

We have been selling these bad boys to our customers since they came out of the mold and the KAST Steelhead Glove continues to be our best selling foul weather glove!
A must have for those who swing 2 handed rods here in central Montana’s wild river like the Missouri River near Craig MT. A must for those who travel over the divide and head out to the coast this winter for Spey Swinging Fun. You gotta try these kick ass KAST Steelhead gloves.
Mark has been attached to a pair for over two years now. Just got a second pair for clients in the boat. Sara & John just returned from the Grand Ronde and utilized them daily. Ninch loves his pair as he swings a two handed rod all winter long. Julie uses hers as well but not always for fishing. They work very well scraping snow from the windshield and snowmobiling, sledding, ice fishing, shotgunning birds, shoveling the driveway, a pair in the proverbial glove box for 3 season emergencies…
Sara wanted to mention the two other gloves offed by KAST Gear. There are the two versions of the Raptor Glove. One with index and thumb fingers chopped for fishing dexterity and the other with all the fingers. The Raptor is a great not so wet fishing glove.
The Raptor is perfect for ripping streamers all day long from the boat in November and December. It is perfect for changing flies and sink tips to find the right trout zone. Use the full fingered version of the KAST Raptor for rowing while you buddy chucks those streamers way too close to you head.
We have all 3 KAST Gloves in the store for your winter pleasure. The Steelhead are obviously the most popular but the KAST Raptor is gaining lots of Headhunters fans!

We do. The Missouri River is producing some really nice fish on the dry fly.
You can nymph them up too. Streamer fishing? OK I guess. “Not Much” is the quote from Dewey @ Headhunters.
Big Brown Trout on Dry Flies
Why would you fly fish with the big bug when you can hook ’em with the small white winged black? To each their own…I guess.
The great thing about the Missouri River is that you can skin the cat in so many differing ways.
Small techy dry fly fishing is at it’s peak right now. Go to your spot and get them on the small dry. Whether it be the PMD. the Trico, the mysterious caddisfly.
If you want to roll the terrestrial betwixt points of rising interest feel free to do so. I would. Well, only if you like that sort of thing.
The Big Brown Trout on Dry Flies deal.
Missouri River Summer Dry Fly Love
Honest. Dry Fly Love.
We so commonly, as of late, meaning the last decade, get categorized into a nymph loving resource. True in some respects.
Not true in others. Respects that is.
Montana’s Missouri River is a classic, the classic maybe, dry fly river. 7K catchable fish per mile. Just think about that for a moment. Name the other resources with that kind of number. 180K insects per square meter. Do the math on that one. Name some other rivers with that number.
So, fish the dry fly. We never disregard the value and effectiveness of the nymph, of the streamer fly. Never. We advocate the use of all. The ability to fish so many different disciplines on any given day is one of the reasons that the Missouri River is highly regarded in so many trout fishing circles.
While we love all the participants in so many differing styles of trout fishing…we love the dry fly.
It is why so many of the locals, the hangers on, the employees, the trout bums, the guides, the shop staffers, the waiters, the bartenders, the dreamers, the dry fly lovers, the travelers of the dry fly, the monks of the dry, the purists, the fantasizers, the reach casters of America.
They love this time period.
Who doesn’t love to catch or at least cast at Big Brown Trout Dry Flies?
Welcome to the Mo in August,. It truly does get more difficult as the month ticks by. Really hard in fact. Practicer a few times in your yard before getting on that jet airplane. You will appreciate the fly rod time in hand upon making the first cast on our beloved river.
The fishing has been just fantastic. Not everyone likes us to tell all to the readers. Well I do not believe that stating that the dry fly fishing is pretty damn good, pretty awesome, some may say mind-blowing….is wrong. The dry fly fishing on any given day is very good. Lots of opportunities for you fellers that like to toss the tiny dry.

You may have already seen this on TV, but if not, enjoy. A great representation of fall fishing on the Restigouche. You can view more episodes from Season’s On The Fly at Greg’s YouTube channel.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

We’ve received many questions about this “inflatable drift boat” designed by the whitewater/fishing guru’s at NRS. Many questions revolve around performance, but just as many are curious about the packaging and set-up. After all, this boat comes standard ground shipping. Yes, you can mail it.
Sara and Ninch are here to give you an idea about the size of the package, and what set-up entails. Pretty easy as you can see. Sara says it took and eighteen pack to build it. Not true. I had a few of those beers as well while operating the camera.
If you’re interested in a performance review and video, give us some time to properly use the boat in a variety of conditions and rivers.
If you’re interested in purchasing one, we have 1 available right now (the rest were pre-sold). If you buy an 18 pack for Sara or Ninch, they might help you set it up!
Demand is high, so give us a call and let us know if you would like to be on the next shipment list.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
As we move through, or just into this wonderfully wet spring, we cannot help but think about July and swarming caddis flies.
July & August bring sun, dry flies dawn til dusk, along with caddis flies in your ears.
John shot this video a few years back now with Ben and Mark. Lots of fun as you can see Missouri River rising trout, late evening sun, and lots of laughing.
Spending time with family and friends coupled with trout fishing is something we should all do more of.
Is this the year that you begin fishing with your son or daughter? How about your Dad.
