Thursday Fishing Report from the Gang @ Headhunters of Craig
Great weekend ahead of us here in downtown Craig Montana on the banks of the Missouri River.
Sunshine, and warmer temps. That is what we are praying for here! A bit more spring like weather.
Missouri River Hot Topics!
March Browns are still in play. The most we have seen in forever. Two weeks and counting for the big mayfly of the early dry fly season. Parachutes, cripples, emergers. Get in and get some. Top to bottom. Find your fish and feed ’em!
BWO’s daily. Crips and duns. We love the poly winged DOA Cripple. Make sure you get a couple with the black post for low and flat light days.
Midge. Mornings. Get out at daybreak and catch a half dozen on top before your buddies get outta bed. It is nice and quiet.
Nymphing is red hot. Worms, sows, March Brown nimps, scuds, BWO nimps, and the caddis will be in play too. RUbberlegs, Zirdles, leeches. Tie a couple fo them off and see what happens too.
The boats running short rigs after lunch are killing it.
Wade fishing is coming soon. If you know a few spots you can get some out there. Just be careful. Wade safely. You know a wading staff in not a terrible idea. I got one. I like staying dry. Swimming is done in warm swimming pools with cocktail service. Not in a damn cold river? Nope.
Strip some streamers too. All disciplines are finding the fish.
Come out and enjoy the weekend. Guides, lodging, rental boats, are all on tap for you here @ Headhunters of Craig. Open daily 7am-9pm. Free coffee, information, free maps, stupid fishing jokes, rigging suggestions, sale rack items, sun gear, sunscreen, the coolest shades, SIMMS, rod demo, rental waders, and so much more.
Be sure and check out the pile of logo wear and stickers while at HH. See you this weekend in Craig![/vc_column_text]
love the reports…part of my weekend coffee ritual. Thank you for this and keep ’em coming. See you in the shop and on the river at the end of July. I will be (still) trying to land the big one on a trico!
Thanks Jeff. Looking forward to late July too! We’ll make sure that the Trico’s are still popping well!
