Headhunters Fly Shop September 8th Fishing Report
The big news this weekend and the following week is the weather. IT is a much cooler September already than it has been in the past several years.
And we like it. Maybe a great BWO fall season is upon us.
A decent showing of top water BWO’s, the little guys, this past Monday. Some on Tuesday as well. Certainly more on the way.
Some good dry fly action as I stated earlier. Not too much for the hopper and ant. That ship may have sailed. But floating the October Caddis is not a bad idea. Dropping off a small number is one way to get some action. Try it long. Why not. Freestone style. Like 3′?
All of the nymphers are rejoicing! Tiny mayflies in conjunction with a scud, sow, worm, crawdad is the normal recipe. Short or long, or even medium depth rigs are working well. Come in to the shop and we will show you the numerous ways to rig your trout catching operation.
The steamer fanatics are having a ball. Fishing the inside bends with floating or intermediate tips is bringing some fish to the net.
Good angling from the dam to the town of Cascade. All good this time of year. This may be one of those Septembers that we all dream about. Book a guide trip today and stay in Craig. Enjoy Izaak’s and Joe’s Bar. A perfect journey begins in Craig and ends in memories!
