11th Annual Craig Caddis Festival & BBQ Cook-Off Saturday May 20th
Once again we are celebrating the 11th Annual Craig Caddis Festival and BBQ Cook-Off Saturday May 20th. Always the spring opener of small creeks and some lake in our region. A big day in Montana and we too celebrate with the best here in downtown Craig Montana.
Many of you have attended through out the past decade and we hope this year is no different.
The festivities don’t get rolling until later int he day so you can enjoy the river and then stuff your face with BBQ…and a few adult beverages. Sample the 10+ BBQ entries, visit with fly fishing industry professional, bid on both spent and live auction items, and wander about the dusty streets of Craig for a few hours before retiring for the night only to wake and fish again on Sunday!
Craig Caddis Fest kicks off at 4pm.
4pm: Parade gets the party rolling with this ad hoc parade of locals, sometimes politicians, baton twirling kids, a couple fire trucks, a goat or two, and some classic cars. Candy is chucked at all bystanders. Per usual of any good parade.
All afternoon: Kids events. A small ferris Wheel, bouncy house, face painting, fake tattoos, and more for the kids on site. Thanks to CrossCurrents for use of their land.
All afternoon: Local Vendors show and sell their crafts.
4pm: BBQ Competition begins. Ribs, pork, sliders of some sort, taco’s, brisket, beans, and other tasty bites available for $3. All proceeds of this event go toward the Craig Volunteer Fire Department. If you want to cook, get in touch with mark@headhuntersflyshop.com.
4pm: Silent Auction starts. Usually about 40-50 items for you to bid on. Local vendors from Helena, Great Falls, local artisans, and items from the local fly shops in the canyon.
5pm: Eklegein Jam Band on Izaak’s Log Jam. these rock and rollers will keep us entertained until dark.
7pm: BBQ Ends. Some scraps always around until the wee hours. BBQ Champion Crowned during the Live Auction @ 730pm.
730pm: Live Auction begins: Guide Trips, original event art, local lodging, and more for this 10 item live auction on Izaak’s Log Jam.
8pm: Eklegein Jam Band plays into the twilight!
All businesses in Craig open all day on this annual fun family event in Craig. Joe’s Izaak’s, Papa’s, the fly shops, lots of vendors, fly fishing manufactures, swag, laughing, and fundraising all for the Craig Volunteer Fire Department.
